What I Ate Wednesday, Vacation Continued…

Hey! Welcome back to the What I Ate Wednesday post. This is the second installment in this series. Read the first one to know why I don’t label my diet and why I decided to start posting these.

Today I’m recapping a day of delicious eats from the archives of my Maui vacation photos. Last week I shared my meals from a busy day out with the family (here). This week I’m sharing what I ate on a special day.

This was a special day for us because it was our 6th wedding anniversary.  And like most people, we celebrate things like love and anniversaries with delicious food and drink.  This was no exception.

By this point, we had left our cozy beachfront condo back in Kaanapali and had trekked over to Wailea.  Our hotel was the beautiful Grand Wailea Resort. We started the morning with a tasty breakfast in our room.  I just love in-room dining when you have a pretty balcony, ocean views and especially when you have your little ones with you.

Breakfast, 8 AM

What I AteHubby and I shared a scrumptious Mediterranean style veggie omelet with a side of asparagus and potatoes.  My two-year-old requested hard-boiled eggs and waffles with fresh berries and cream.  Then there were mimosas for mom and dad.

 Lunch, 1 PM

After breakfast, we booked a cute cabana and enjoyed some pool time with our boys.  I ordered my favorite green mojito with lots of freshly blended mint and muddled lime (pictured above). It was the perfect poolside beverage if I do say so myself! What I Ate  Disclaimer: this post may contain affiliate links.

For lunch, we walked over to the restaurant at the hotel next door.  The boys napped in their cute travel double stroller (which is affordable and easy to use for travel) and we enjoyed yet another tasty lunch.  I probably would have ordered this Avocado Caprese Salad a thousand times if I could! Just yum!!!  What I Ate Have I mentioned how much I love to share my food?  I’d rather split a few appetizers than order one big entree.  Who else is with me?What I Ate I just love fresh seafood and we devoured these right up and shared one entree again. Generally, I stay away from fried appetizers and like my food light and fresh.

Dinner, 6 PM

What I AteUmmmm, yes another fish dish lol! It’s safe to say we had our fair share of fish on this trip.   But, what else would we eat on a tropical island, right? We dined at HumuHumu which has exceptional Polynesian and Hawaiian cuisine.  I remember we had a few other items but this was my main course.  For a celebratory dinner, I like to order heavier and more decadent items.  This was the fresh CATCH OF THE DAY with the most creamy coconut rice, baby bok choy, & ginger emulsion.

I enjoyed every…single..bite…

This day would definitely not be complete without dessert and champagne of course!  It was a great day full of love and tasty food. What I Ate So, I hope you enjoyed this What I Ate post.  Looking back on this day, I can really say that I ate clean and healthy.  But one thing I want to mention is that these posts are not meant to be the least bit braggy.  Yes, we should aim to eat our best version of healthy but also understand that food isn’t your only source of nourishment.

Did I just say that?  Yes, I did.

Pillars of Wellness

The quality of your sleep, lifestyle, hormones, exercise, stress management, and even your relationships all contribute to your health.  These are all pillars that contribute to the quality of wellbeing.  Diet, lifestyle and stress management go hand in hand, my friend!

Food is just one of the easiest pillars we can control.  We have the power to make the choices to feed ourselves well.  If you are a parent, you certainly try your hardest to ensure your child eats well. And you should also make it a goal to feed yourself well too.

Trust me, I’m not just preaching over here. I’m also speaking to myself. I’m far too guiltily of skipping a meal or two because I’m busy with my boys.  It happens. But each day I strive to take care of myself the best I can and that means nourishing and feeding myself well.  But it also means sleeping well, exercising and taking care of my mental health.  Hope you are too 🙂
