Glowing Green Smoothie
I love having smoothies for breakfast! Here is one of my favorite recipes that I make often. It’s so easy and absolutely delicious.
The recipe is inspired by celebrity nutritionist Kimberly Snyder and her Beauty Detox Book. It’s Kimberly’s famous GGS (Glowing Green Smoothie) that she drinks almost daily. I usually follow the same recipe but make some slight modifications to it based on what ingredients I have in my fridge. Here is the recipe I posted on Instagram last week. Please note that I always do my best to use organic produce when juicing or making a smoothie. If I told you that a regular apple has over 45 different pesticides and toxic chemicals on it, would you still put it in your smoothie? Mmmm, probably not!
Good news is, you don’t have to give up your whole paycheck to eat organic. Check out the Dirty Dozen and Clean Fifteen List to see which items have the highest pesticide contamination and residue see this post here.
Ingredients:
Serving size: roughly 7 cups
- 2 cups water
- 1 bunch organic romaine lettuce, rough chopped
- 1/2 bunch Italian Kale (Dinosaur Kale) leaves with stem in
- 3 organic celery stalks, rough chopped
- 1 organic apple, quartered (I don’t worry about seeds)
- 1 organic banana, peeled
- 1/2 fresh organic lemon, peeled
- 1/2 bunch organic parsley with stems
You want to start by blending your dark green veggies first. So place water, romaine, kale , celery and parsley into your high speed blender. Turn machine on and slowly increase speed blending for 30 seconds or until smooth. Stop machine and add apple, banana and lemon to the blender. Turn machine on and slowly increase speed to highest option you have. Blend for 30 seconds or until desired consistency is reached. Leftovers hold well in fridge for 1-2 days in airtight mason jars.
One of my favorite things is grean juice. I’ve never had this one before. Cant wait to try it.
