How to Make Homemade Collagen Popsicles ( Dairy-Free, Gluten-free, Low-carb)

Collagen Popsicles! Yes, it’s a thing. And I know what you’re thinking.  But, I promise that you don’t taste the collagen.  These sweet treats are sure to please both the kids and adults this summer!

There’s nothing wrong with slipping into the freezer section of your grocery store for a decadent pint of Haagen-dazs or your child’s favorite bright colored popsicle every once in a while but really have you seen the ingredients?

With things like…

  • Refined Sugars
  • Little-to-no nutrients
  • High Fructose Corn Syrup
  • Artificial Coloring
  • Juice Concentrate

They are so not worth it. Making popsicles at home is so easy that you will happily forget about those store-bought ones.

I’m going to show you how easy it really is to make your own popsicles at home. And since this is a nutrition blog, we are going to upgrade those popsicles to…collagen popsicles.

I’m going to teach you my little trick for turning those homemade popsicles into beauty pops by sneaking in some amazing collagen.  The reason why I like to sneak collagen in is that it has gut-healing, immune-boosting, and glow enhancing benefits.

Regular ice cream and esp popsicles will spike your blood sugar and then make you crash.  But because these popsicles are made with just a few ingredients and with whole fruit, they are full of fiber and antioxidants and most importantly, packed with protein due to adding in the secret ingredient… collagen peptides.

Collagen Popsicles

What is Collagen?

Collagen is the most abundant protein in our body.  It is a structural protein that is the “glue” which holds our connective tissue together.  Collagen plays a very important role in keeping our bones, blood vessels, joints, skin, and organs healthy. Collagen gives our skin its plumpness, elasticity, and youth.

It’s what keeps our joints flexible and holds our joints and tendons together. When we age, our joints can become tender and painful due to reduced collagen in our cartilage.

Our body makes collagen on its own from the amino acid rich foods we consume.

However, our body’s collagen production slows down little by little as we age. So, it’s a great idea to continue to boost our body’s collagen production by the foods we eat.  I include lots of collagen boosting foods into my family’s diet.  But, nothing is easier than adding collagen powder into our food because it does not alter the taste or flavor of food.

Why I Like Further Food Collagen

Description

The easiest and most delicious homemade collagen popsicles.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup organic berry juice of choice ( I used Suja Cold-Pressed Juice )
  • 1 cup organic coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 1/2 cup black cherries (pitted)
  • 2 tablespoon, raw unfiltered honey
  • 1 scoop Further Food Collagen ( Use my Discount Code : MISSNUTRITIONISTA )

Instructions

  1. Wash and prep all fresh ingredients. Pit the cherries.
  2. Add all ingredients into a high-speed blender. I used my NutriBullet
  3. Blend to your desired consistency. I like having some visible fruit pieces.
  4. Once ready, pour into popsicle molds and freeze until solid. Enjoy

Notes

  1. Notes: Make sure to add the honey because it is necessary to keep the popsicles from becoming too icy.
  2. Run popsicles under hot water for a few seconds to remove easily from molds.
